Laura Gutermuth Anthony, Ph.D., is Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Children’s Hospital of Colorado. She is also the Department of Psychiatry’s Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs and the Director of Research for Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Dr. Anthony completed her B.A. at Vanderbilt University and a dual degree Ph.D. program in clinical and developmental psychology at the University of Illinois, Chicago, in 1997. She has focused most of her teaching, research and clinical work on neurodivergent people of all ages, with particular interests in Community-Partnered Participatory Research, addressing disparities, and community-based evidence-based practices. She is a member of the original Unstuck author team.

John Strang, Psy.D., is Associate Professor of Neurology, Psychiatry, Behavioral Sciences, and Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and a neuropsychologist and Director of the Gender and Autism Program at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. Dr. Strang completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Michigan and his doctoral degree in clinical psychology at George Washington University. His research focuses on adolescent development, including the impact of executive functioning differences on a young person’s ability to effectively advocate for their needs. Dr. Strang is an expert in autism and gender development, including the common intersection of autism and gender diversity. Community-based participatory research methods, partnering with autistic community members to drive research priorities, is a focus of Dr. Strang’s work. Dr. Strang identifies as neurodivergent and celebrates that multiple members of his family are autistic. Dr. Strang led the development of Unstuck 11-15 and is a coauthor of Unstuck 14-22.

Lynn Cannon, M.Ed., is a social learning specialist at The Ivymount School and The Maddux School. Ms. Cannon received her M.Ed. in special education from the University of Virginia. For more than 15 years, she has worked as an educator, administrator and program director, serving students with neurodevelopmental disabilities. Ms. Cannon is an original member of the Unstuck team, is also a co-author of The Conversation Club (Autism Asperger Publishing Company, 2018), an instructional manual for teaching conversation skills to students with neurodevelopmental disabilities and The IvySCIP an assessment, individualized education program development tool and curricular resource for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. Her research and teaching interests are in developing interventions and support materials for students with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families, therapists, and educators.

Katie Alexander, OTD, M.S., OTR/L, is an occupational therapist and clinician-researcher. Dr. Alexander received her Bachelor of Science and postprofessional graduate degrees from the University of Kansas Medical Center. For almost 2 decades, she has specialized in community and school-based intervention for individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities, and she served as the founding program director for the Model Asperger Program at The Ivymount School. Her research and clinical interests are in developing interventions and supports that improve the daily lives of neurodivergent individuals and their families. Through her work as an author and national presenter, Dr. Alexander remains committed to enhancing evidence-based and collaborative practices across professional disciplines.  She is an member of the original Unstuck team.

Monica Adler Werner, M.A., LCPC, is a neurodivergent-affirming counselor in private practice in the Washington, D.C., area.  She is part of the original Unstuck team, writing curriculum and engaging in research.  She has deep school based experience, and as the director of the Model Asperger Program (MAP) at The Ivymount School she spearheaded the development of a school program that emphasizes problem solving, self-advocacy, and self-regulation while keeping students on track academically. She is the coauthor of numerous papers and posters about working with neurodivergent people. Ms. Werner has an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degrees from Johns Hopkins University and Palo Alto University. 

Lauren Kenworthy, Ph.D., is Professor of Neurology, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry at the George Washington University School of Medicine, and Director of the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at Children’s National Hospital. Dr. Kenworthy received her B.A. from Yale University and Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. Her research interests are in describing and supporting the neuropsychological phenotype of autism. She is an author of more than 120 peer-reviewed publications and a co-author of the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF), published by PAR, Inc. She is currently working on two trials of Unstuck and On Target, Ages 14-22 and is one of the original Unstuck authors.

Cara E. Pugliese, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and of Pediatrics at George Washington University and a clinical psychologist at the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at Children’s National Hospital. Dr. Pugliese completed her bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond, her master’s degree from the University of Exeter, and her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Virginia Tech. Dr. Pugliese is an expert in autism, with an emphasis on supporting youth’s executive function and self-determination through the transition to adulthood. She values community-partnered research to ensure that interventions and supports are relevant, strengths-based, and accessible. Dr. Pugliese has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications and participated in 10 federally- and foundation-funded research grants focusing on assessment, intervention development, executive function, and meaningful treatment outcomes. She led the development of Unstuck 14-22 and is a coauthor of Unstuck 11-15.
